Born in 1898, Berenice Abbott was an American Photographer who was inspired both by the artistic and scientific scene. Her work was consecrated primarily to sculpture and painting until she was asked to become Man Ray's assistant. Rapidly she assimilated his techniques and finally find her own. At this time the student surpassed the master and a competition was genuinely established.
She once said “Photography can never grow up if it imitates some other medium. It has to walk alone; it has to be itself.” And here is why we do love her.
